Having spent much of her youth deep in Cologne’s techno scene while staying connected to Georgia’s electronic music culture, Mariami brings a blend of both influences to her sets—carefully built, emotive and textured.

Since 2021, she has been part of the Brutalism label, where she also curates events across West Germany.

Her sound is subtle yet forceful, emotional yet controlled. Long transitions and contrast-driven selections define her approach, moving fluidly between atmospheric rhythms and heavier, percussive elements.

Måtyrer ist Künstler und Mitbegründer der Brutalism-Bewegung, die sich durch ihre experimentelle Herangehensweise an elektronische Musik und die Entwicklung immersiver Klangformate einen Namen gemacht hat. Seit über einem Jahrzehnt ist er fester Bestandteil der Szene und prägt als Resident des Kölner Clubs Gewölbe das musikalische Geschehen mit. Dort initiierte er auch die Veranstaltungsreihe Research, ein monatliches Sonntagsformat mit starkem Community-Fokus, das heute als feste Institution gilt.

Lomi ist Musiker und erforscht die Schnittstelle von Klang und Architektur. Seit der Mitbegründung von BRUTALISM im Jahr 2015 nutzt er das Label als kulturelle Forschungsplattform, um klangliche Formen durch Material, Textur und Struktur zu untersuchen. Mohammad Reza Mortazavi (*1979, Iran) ist bekannt für seine bahnbrechende Arbeit mit Tombak und Daf, traditionellen persischen Trommeln, die er durch neue Spieltechniken und ein erweitertes Vokabular radikal neu definiert hat. Mortazavi begann im Alter von sechs Jahren Tombak zu spielen. Bereits mit neun übertraf er seinen Lehrer und gewann Irans nationalen Tombak-Wettbewerb – eine Auszeichnung, die er weitere sechs Mal erhalten sollte. Sein neues Album Nexus evoziert einen Begegnungspunkt, an dem Energien, Zeiten und Räume zusammenlaufen. Mortazavi trat in bedeutenden Spielstätten wie der Berliner Philharmonie, dem Panthéon in Paris und dem Sydney Opera House auf. Seine rhythmischen Erkundungen führten zudem zu Kollaborationen mit experimentellen elektronischen Künstlern wie Burnt Friedman und Mark Fell. From staging concerts in brutalist buildings -most notably Cologne’s St. Gertrud Church—to developing new technical setups such as spatial audio and collaborating with international artists, Brutalism’s work explores the interplay between sound and space.

At the heart of their practice is the understanding of brutalist architecture not merely as a backdrop, but as an active agent within our events. Through this approach, Brutalism have established a format that bridges pop and club culture, experimental music and theoretical reflection, opening up new connections and engaging diverse audiences.

Mohammad Reza Mortazavi (b. 1979, Iran) is known for his groundbreaking work with the tombak and daf, traditional Persian drums that he has radically redefined through new playing techniques and extended vocabulary. Mortazavi began playing the tombak at the age of six. By nine, he had already outpaced his teacher and won Iran’s national tombak competition—a distinction he would earn six more times. His new album Nexus evokes a meeting point where energies, times, and spaces converge. Mortazavi has performed at major venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Paris Panthéon, and Sydney Opera House, and his rhythmic explorations have led to collaborations with experimental electronic artists including Burnt Friedman and Mark Fell.
