The club is a two-minute walk from Wuppertal Central Station. The entrance is located on the square behind Café 23 — down the stairs.

Café 23 is open until midnight on club nights and is a great place to start the evening.

There are several restaurants and hotels nearby.

The suspension railway also stops directly in front of the café. Wuppertal is a very green city with many sights to explore.

Accessibility

We have an optional wheelchair accessible lift. A staff member at the entrance can show you. Your accompanying person has free entry. There is an accessible toilet.

The bigger floor Freifeld is accessible step-free. It may have moving or pulsating lights, hazer or fog.

The smaller floor Annex is only accessible via a a small set of steps. It has static lighting only.

The central lobby area has seating, music playing at low volume and static lights only.

At the Door

Before you enter the club, our door staff will welcome you and share some of our policies. Bags and pockets will be checked for prohibited items, including illegal drugs.

Please don't worry about being cool enough, young enough or dressed in a certain way – just be yourself and be nice.

However, we may refuse entry if our door staff considers you too drunk or high, aggressive, showing inappropriate behavior, a disrespectful attitude, toxic masculinity, or displaying offensive symbols.

Admission decisions are based on our door staff’s assessment of behavior and attitude. We understand how disappointing it can be to be denied entry to a club night you’ve been looking forward to — especially if you’ve traveled a long way. We do not refuse entry lightly. Every situation is unique, and decisions are made carefully and in the moment.

If you are denied entry, the decision is final for the night. As a general rule, our door staff will not provide specific reasons. There is no benefit in arguing at the door.

We welcome reasonable feedback and constructive criticism.

We work with the Steinberger security team.

You must be 18 or older.

At Open Ground, we want you to feel safe and comfortable.

Our awareness team is always nearby for you.

If you or someone around you feels unwell, or if something doesn’t feel right, please reach out to any team member.
We’re all connected by radio and ready to help or call for assistance.

Payment Options

All payments in the club are cashless.

Network Connection

Mobile reception is weak, and there is no public Wi-Fi.

Coat Check, Bags

Coat check is free of charge. We don’t have lockers, but bags can be left for €2.

No Photos Inside

Please respect our strict no-photo policy. Cameras will be stickered. The club is an intimate environment - we want your privacy and that of others to be protected.

No Smoking Inside

Please respect the smoking ban inside the club - seriously. There is a convenient smoking area in the central courtyard.
