Hailing from East Kingston, Jamaica, Gavsborg is the founder of Equiknoxx/Equiknoxx Music. Gavsborg has been producing for over ten years, with his first success being the Billboard charting single,“Step Out” by Busy Signal.

Gavsborg’s left-field approach to production has afforded him the opportunity to work with a wide variety of artists and labels from different corners of music such as: Sam Morton, Addis Pablo, DDS, Busy Signal and more.

Outside music production duties, Gavsborg has toured extensively, both solo and with the Equiknoxx Collective as a DJ & live music performer making stops all over Europe, Australia, the Americas, the United Kingdom, Africa & Asia.

Musically, Dr.Love is very broadly based. As a “ClubKid” of the 90s, Dr.Love is very fond of vocal house and likes to hark back to the golden days of the Amsterdam house era with his house sets, but likes to mix this with driving tech house to get the floor boiling. From disco and nu-disco to house classics, Dr. Love can be heard every other Friday in the bar of Düsseldorf's Silq club.
But his great love is for downbeats & slow-wound tracks, which Dr.Love refines with poems, word fragments and other sound collages.what was designed in the darkroom of kinky beats before 2011 is now one of the hottest sounds for the night. #slowhouse #bummeltechno #ketapop or #organic, the child has many names and Dr.Love manages to draw the masses further and further into the trance of the night.

Daniel Wang has been involved in Clubs and Dance Music for a very very long time now! Yes, he lived in downtown New York in the 1990s, but now he has been a Berliner for over 22 years. He first played at Ostgut (the original Berghain) in 2001, and has been a regular DJ at almost every queer club + party here, including Horse Meat Disco and Cocktail d'Amore. He still has residencies at the queer club Schwuz and at Paloma Bar in Kreuzberg.

But most importantly - everyone knows this - Daniel Wang just loves to dance and have fun with people on the dancefloor! He hates big commercial festivals and boring laptop techno made by cut-and-paste. Let Daniel play the violins and guitars and Salsoul congas, and get everybody into a big happy circle together. He brings his joyful spirit and deep musicality to every gig.

The musical direction of MAL Recordings is firmly rooted in the counter culture tradition that's more about attitude than sonic pigeonholing but also has a fascination with artists that make sense of the new by understanding the old.

A perfect example of this would be Gavsborg, who along with his crew Equiknoxx Music has literally shifted the needle on how people see modern Jamaican music in recent years. Yet on a closer listen to Gav's music you can hear the accumulation of his rich musical experience including his time working at the studio of classic label Shocking Vibes and a deep love of producers like Timbaland. After working with Jon K & Demdike Stare on the 'Bird Sound Power' & 'Colon Man' releases, he and Jordan Chung (Time Cow) were a perfect fit for the second MAL release.

Like the label's output the DJ sets of its founders Jon K & Elle Andrews have a pretty broad base and take in the spectrum of Sound System culture from the UK, Jamaica, Africa & beyond through the prism of experimental and at times esoteric selections. The combined effect over the night will have periods of Third eye laser focus on losing yourself to the dance, but alongside extremely raucous energy at certain moments and a complete disregard for the idea that club music needs to always be at high tempos!
