A deeply personal selector - with radars for the wacky, the moody and the lowercase - miel’s style is a deft balancing act, from sung soundscapes and explorations of her heritage to contemporary bass, electro, and vanguard electronics. Those who’ve caught her live will know the former MOT booker and now NTS resident is apt to blur the thinning line between selector and sound artist, having torn up countless great nights, venues and festivals in just a few years: dare we say Panorama Bar, Field Manuevers, Boiler Room, De School, Big Dyke Energy and FOLD. It’s folk wisdom, almost a given at this point, that mi-el is killing it.
Guy Brewer has always existed in the hinterlands of electronic music. Carrier embodies his eclectic journey as an artist, drawing from his experiences in d & b, techno, and beyond. It represents a departure from the confines of any specific genre, embracing a more unbounded style.
In Brewer's own words: "I think Carrier is about me delving into everything I have picked up along my journey as an artist, be it drum n bass, techno or my forays into more experimental areas. It’s all been viewed through my lens, but I’ve compartmentalised it. Carrier is about creating a sense of unity, taking my palette and applying it to something that draws on all these influences.”
RS Tangent is a producer and DJ from Bristol, UK.
His productions tread between machinist clank and bleeding edge abstraction (think the endless churn of early Downwards recordings or the tactility of Different Circles’s most beguiling offerings) rendering a fiercely original style of modern body music.
Behind the decks RS Tangent translates this energy into a head spinning marriage of blunted techno thump and twisted dubwise experimentalism.
With over a decade of casting spells in the club under his belt as one half of wrecking crew Giant Swan and a pillar of the ever boundary pushing Bristol scene, RS Tangent is the latest chapter for an artist who has continually challenged both himself and his listeners, ensuring a tantalising dance experience for the head, body and feet.
The Tottenham London born-and-bred selector grew up on soul and reggae, later becoming a dedicated junglist. First as a resident DJ at the legendary London club Plastic People, she’s built a rep as one of the most effective and interesting DJs around. Playing shape-shifting, genre-bending sets that effortlessly move from classic rare groove and disco records to upfront house and techno, via garage, jungle and whatever else she feels like. With no social media presence, Josey’s reputation is based on selection, passion and authenticity.
For nearly forty years, Mark Ainley has been the buyer for Honest Jons record shop, in London. He is the curator of its record label, issuing more than two hundred releases: music from all over the world, spanning a full century of recordings. He put together numerous Studio One compilations for the Soul Jazz label; he co-ran PK Records, with Will Bankhead and friends; he co-runs the reggae reissue label Dug Out, with Mark Ernestus.
Mark Ernestus–founder of Hard Wax and producer of Basic Channel, Maurizio and Rhythm & Sound fame–plays mostly Jamaican or other African rooted music beyond prevalent club sounds.
Brassfoot is a boundary-pushing producer, DJ, and founder of NCA, the alternative cassette tape label championing raw and experimental electronic music. A frequent guest on NTS Radio’s Channel 1, his selections span a vast spectrum of genres, blending bass-heavy atmospheres, industrial techno, and wild experimental dance music into electrifying sets.
A regular collaborator with the likes of Will Bankhead and Josey Rebelle, Brassfoot has carved out a reputation for his tension-building soundscapes and climactic grooves. His production style is equally distinctive—marked by brash, metallic tones and hardware-driven jams, where dark, hypnotic rhythms meet unfiltered creative energy.
With a deep connection to both his Afro-Caribbean heritage and North London roots, Brassfoot’s sound carries an undeniable grit and groove. His time spent in Tokyo, Japan, further shaped his approach, enriching his sonic world with an international perspective. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Brassfoot continues to push the limits of underground electronic music, crafting a style that is both futuristic and deeply rooted in tradition.
Open Ground welcomes The Trilogy Tapes‘ unique sonic palette—where texture, atmosphere, and unpredictability reign supreme.
Founded by Will Bankhead, The Trilogy Tapes has carved out a singular position in the electronic music landscape, blurring the boundaries between experimental electronics, from dusty sample-heavy excursions to hypnotic, dubbed-out techno, abstracted house and fractured rhythms that defy categorization.
The night will showcase both established TTT affiliates and emerging talents promising to deliver the kind of immersive, boundary-pushing experience that both the label and artists are renowned for.
