Having spent half of her youth deeply immersed in Cologne's techno scene while remaining rooted in Georgia’s abundance of electronic music, Mariami has been playing at renowned venues such as like Tresor West, Left Bank, Weltspiele & Gewölbe as part of Brutalism Cologne since 2021.
Mariami also created a platform called Samaia, designed for FLINTA* individuals to connect and raise awareness about the structural disadvantages in the music industry. The platform includes DJ workshops, panel discussions on awareness, and collaborations with FLINTA* collectives that focus on intersectionality.
Gentle yet assertive like Mariami herself, her sets create a delicate, organic texture enriched by warm tones of tape delays and characterized by powerful basslines and energetic climaxes with driving, raw, and hypnotic sounds. Mariami loves to draw from diversity, enjoying the exploration of contrasts and creating fluid transitions between seeming opposites.
Rrose is the latest incarnation of Seth Horvitz, an inter-disciplinary artist from California (currently residing in London) whose 25+ year musical history weaves in and out of academic circles and electronic music culture. Their work is informed by ongoing interests in microtonality, the limits of perception, and the idiosyncrasies of machines, which serve to create a distinctly detailed, sensual and hallucinogenic form of techno that challenges the mind and body in equal measure... On stage, Rrose often stands in the shadows, going by he and she interchangeably (Rrose’s name and image allude to Marcel Duchamp’s female alter-ego) – an implied interrogation of gender norms and artistry, albeit with a hint of black humour.
Her performances have taken place for seated audiences in historic theaters and museums as well as for sweaty dancefloors in some of the most revered nightclubs and electronic music festivals in the world, including Berghain, Unsound, Labyrinth, Movement, and Mutek. The influence of Rrose's music on the development of contemporary techno is clear and present, and stands poised to continue well into the future.
Lomi is a musician who explores the intersection of sound and architecture. Since co-founding BRUTALISM in 2015, he uses the label as a cultural research platform that explores sonic forms through materials, textures and structure. His approach combines electronic music with a data-driven exploration of visual media and spatial aesthetics.

Born in 1999, Elmaskaya has been exploring the electronic scene and its backyards since 2016 and quickly found deep love for experimental soundscapes, acid-influenced bass and excessive but mutually caring dance spaces, which he has since tried to recreate and evolve as host and co-founder of the Rave Against The Machine series, originated as off-location at Autonomes Zentrum Wuppertal.
Usually keeping it low profile, Elmaskaya proves as resident of the local Mauke club era and with regular visits through NRW such as Tresor.West, Roxy Cologne or Goethebunker, that he's able to persuade with a passionate selection between borders, always keeping his cheeky signature in mind.
SanLeo, Italian born in Wuppertal and raised in Milan, returned to his adopted home in 2020.
Back in town, he quickly put down roots in the local electro scene and has since been exploring the delights of the electronic realms with records ranging from dub and techno to breaks and drum & bass, securing himself a residency at the local Mauke Club.
As newface of raveagainst and at regular appearances in and outside Wuppertal, such as at Gewölbe Cologne, he shows off his skills behind the decks with select sets of lost sounds spanning genres and eras.
BRUTALISM and Open Ground are excited to host a special club night with Rrose. Their fusion of techno and avant-garde electronic music unfolds with hypnotic detail and intensity, reflecting our shared interest in sound as a spatial and material experience. Rooted in psychoacoustics and sonic perception, Rrose’s approach aligns closely with the idea of brutalist sound—focusing on its raw, physical qualities. We’re looking forward to presenting a live set by Rrose at Open Ground as part of an ongoing dialogue between club culture and sound art curated by BRUTALISM.
