As a DJ, the width of his depth is breathtaking. His club sets are usually build around his deep mix of disco, house and techno, but he also sometimes plays hippie music, hiphop, folk, jazz, soul, reggae, post punk, yacht rock, baroque pop and so on.

Founder of Sophisticado Recordings Chicago and co-owner of Bridgeport Record Store Chicago, DJ / Producer Vick Lavender has been a global music aficionado for over 30 years and continues to elevate the genre of deep & soulful house music by creating unique landscapes and rhythms representing world music, jazz fusion, R&B, and various other musical styles.

His mastery of these unique sounds gives his music the ability to call to ancestral spirit and permeate the soul of its listener. In the mid-'90s, Vick was a part of Glenn Underground's Strictly Jaz Unit along with Boo Williams.

His musical upbringing in the melting pot of cultures that is London has been the catalyst for his sonic identity, and his very first record purchase, "Snap - The Power," proved to be a powerful harbinger of things to come. Immersed in the diverse Caribbean culture, with its roots in gospel, dancehall and soul, he developed a keen appreciation for the rhythmic intricacies of records. The influence of London's soundsystem culture is evident in his signature garage groove, though so too is the pulse of New York's 90’s house culture—from its intricate tempo to its powerful soul.
