Born and raised in Basel, Switzerland to a Turkish immigrant family, and now based in Berlin, Mehmet Aslan has been driven by questions related to the fluidity of his own post-migrant identity since his breakthrough EP, Mechanical Turk, was released on Glasgow’s Huntleys + Palmers in 2014.

With Early Beginnings, his new EP on Permanent Vacation, Aslan turns inward to explore the origins of his club instincts — filtering Electro, Acid and early Chicago House through a personal, lived-in lens that traces the formative tension between euphoria and introspection at the start of his relationship with club music.

The subsequent years have seen Aslan grow as an artist as he interrogated the answers to these questions through music production & live performance, DJing and graphic design, leading to 2022’s debut studio album, The Sun Is Parallel.

Released on Basel’s Planisphere Editorial, the album also featured contributions from Italian percussionist & composer Valentina Magaletti, Spanish composer Niño de Elche and Mehmet Aslan live band members Alican Tezer (drums) and Daniel Pankau (guitar).

The album was followed in 2023 by the curation of Senza Decoro: Liebe + Anarchia / Switzerland 1980–1990, a compilation of Swiss new wave & post-punk rarities for Strut Records.“

Despite his young age upcoming artist OSE already is well experienced in different disciplines of electronic dance music. Originally hailing from the Ruhr Area he finally found his residency in Krefeld. His radioshow „Kopje Koffie“ formerly streamed on Birdcage Radio (Utrecht) is now broadcasted monthly from „Callshop Radio“ in Düsseldorf where OSE also studies at the „Institut für Musik und Medien“. His musical diversity is one of his trademarks. Expect the unexpected!
