As enamoured as Peter Kremeier was with the new sounds he was hearing, he was a soul boy at heart, sensitive to the emotional sway of earlier RnB and soul he now found beating at the electronic heart of boogie, garage, and subsequently house music. Even as a whole generation fell under the seductive spell of sequencers and synthesis, Kremeier still felt the funk guiding his assured steps forward in this strange new realm.

Such is the nature of his hypnotic effect, you might easily lose yourself in one of these long-form jams, find yourself dancing away from the funk of the track in a dislocated fashion, only to come to and find yourself back in the groove anyway – in Losoul's hands, the groove is never just one-dimensional. Equal parts an expressive dreamer and a studious preacher, Losoul has metabolized the funk in an inimitable style that is still unique, and that continues to bear new fruit to this day.

From his initial alias Don Disco to his now firmly-established Losoul guise, Kremeier has remained dedicated to the musical roots behind the electronic music wave, both as a producer and on stage.

opo plays with music, sounds, images, and DIY technology, focusing on improvisation, experimentation, and collaboration. opo is a member of the Jokkoo Collective, founded in Barcelona in 2017, that explores and amplifies contemporary electronic and avant-garde sounds from the African continent and its diaspora. opo recently released 666ridims on Meakusma, a minimalist dive into strange meters, polyrhythm, and the transcendence of ideas. Fast, slow. Exhilarating.

Rudi J, formerly known as Weird Dust and one half of Tav Exotic, honors dub’s revolutionary spirit, deconstructs reggae, and adds a 90s take on library music. His live sets delve deeply and encompassingly into the full spectrum of sound system culture, paying tribute to never-ending nights and daily surrealism. He will release a 7inch on Meakusma in the near future.

Tropa Macaca is a project run by André Abel and Joana da Conceição, a Lisbon-based duo working in electronic contemporary composition. Their music has always been long, cathartic, and deeply poetic, as if looking for unfound places or trying to speak unknown languages. It is a ritualistic experience, where secrets unfold, and mysteries are forever shattered. Pure sonic hypnosis, filtering and crossing countless branches of experimental music.

Annex: Back to Open Ground on December 5th, once again in the simply perfect Annex room, featuring a DJ set by opo, live sets by Tropa Macaca and Rudi J, plus some warm-up action by the Meakusma DJs. This night celebrates the release of a 10inch by Tropa Macaca on Meakusma.

And yes, there will once again be a shuttle bus, leaving from Brussels, stopping in Eupen, and then going straight to Open Ground. And back the morning after, of course.
